EQUIPPED TO DO HIS WILL

Updated: Aug 16

It’s easy to be pulled into the sweeping currents of everyday life. Currently, I am a grad student with two jobs, and I often feel pulled under. In times of chaos, I believe the lie that I am not fully equipped to thrive in the circumstances that the Lord has placed me in.

However, I am convinced that God fully equips those He calls for the situation He has placed them in. And we are all called to a situation God has placed us in. See how that works?

It’s the equipping process that can sometimes go unnoticed. In the still, quiet times, He is so kind to prepare us for the next thing. Looking back, I see so many ways the Lord equipped me when I thought I was just bopping along through life. For Him, those moments were intentional and purposeful.

In our current season at the Memphis Morning Center, we are being equipped for what will come next. In a way, the temporary pause of clinic services is a still, quiet moment—even as we work hard towards reopening the clinic. The Lord is situating who we are and who we are to become because His purposes for our ministry and each team member are infinitely higher than anything we could dream up on our own.

What we must do is press in and trust. Trust that He will prepare and has prepared us to navigate the sweeping currents of life. Trust that when He asks us to step out of the boat, He has prepared us to walk on water.

If I could encourage my team members and the Memphis Morning Center community in anything this season, it would be to believe—in our hearts—our Creator when He tells us that we are prepared.

Originally from the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, Abi fell in love with Memphis and it's people during a summer internship at Bellevue Baptist Church. Abi believes in the power of storytelling to unite society. Her role in crafting stories has been invaluable in helping create the voice of the Memphis Morning Center. We are so grateful for her heart for the women we serve + our community.
